Last night I dug into the dusty grave of my documents folder and here is what I found. An entry that should have been posted 2000 years ago but wasn't posted due to unknown reasons.

I think there was a time when I posted an entry asking the whole wide universe to pray for me so that I can get the scores that I need in a certain exam that I was to take. I took the IELTS exam. Why IELTS and not JLPT? Wahleylung. I just want to waste money. juk! Personal reasons :) I applied for the exam last February (this year) online and got the April 2 schedule for listening, reading and writing part. The schedule for the speaking part of the exam as well as the test venue will be given 2-3 weeks before April 2 via snail mail. I asked some of my friends who already took the exam for some tips and where to find good reviewers. Since I already spent too much (too much = 24,+++ JPY yes ansakit sa bulsa) for the exam fee I just relied on sample exams and free reviewers online. purita much kasi. I have more than a month to review. Carry :)

Fast forward. March came and I haven't started reviewing. Galing noh? Then the March 11 earthquake happened. Lalong hindi ako nakapagreview (makapagdahilan). I thought the exam will be cancelled. Para akong batang nagdadasal na sana walang pasok bukas. When I checked the website of STEPS (Society for Testing English Proficiency), the official partner of IELTS in Japan - I think, only the March 12 and 19 schedules were cancelled. April 2 was spared. Oh great. On the last week of March I received the mail regarding the location of the exam as well as the schedule of my speaking test. Tuloy na tuloy na itwu. I used the remaining week before the exam to review. Bahala na si batman.

April 2. I reached the venue, which was Toyo University, 1 hr before the exam. It was my first time to enter a building of a Japanese University. There were lifts and escalators inside. I mean school with escalators? Ako na galing bundok. During my time, the engineering building in Bulacan State University was the highest with 6 floors but it doesn't have any lift or whatsoever. Anyway I was a little bit shocked when I heard the lady on the first floor speaking in Japanese giving instructions on the whereabouts of the examination rooms. Like huh? Am I in the wrong place? They're suppose to be speaking in English because it is an IELTS exam. Dabah?

Since I arrived early I stayed in the cafeteria first. 95 percent of the examinees were Japanese. But of course nasaang bansa ba ako? :) I was hoping I can talk to someone in English while waiting for the eaxamination to start then be friends with her/him/them, etc. When I take an exam I usually do not review hours before it start. Dapat relax mode lang. My hopes were gone when I saw that most of the examinees were still studying. So I just sat and pretend I can read the writings in the bottle of my mineral water while waiting for the staff to call us.

The exam started and instructions were given first. Also we were told of what to do in case an earthquake happens. Dumagdag pa sa nerbiyos. The proctor was a tall Caucasian male and has a british accent. I get kilig everytime I hear someone speaking in british accent. Landi ko lang. Honestly speaking I think the test wasn't really that hard (if you're just after an OK-ish score). Especially for us Filipinos who have studied the English language since we started going to school. Pero ginahol ako sa listening and writing part. Lalo na sa writing kasi umihi pako tapos yung kasabay ko tumae pa yata kaya antagal namin nakabalik. Jusme.

I took the speaking part of the exam on the next day on the same university but on a different building. We were called by batch of ten and we're asked to line in a corregidor. On the other side of the line were the examiners. Para kaming mga batang kalye na binebenta sa mga pedopilyang porenjer. Sa aming sampu na kumukuha ng exam ako pa yung pinakamaliit. Nagmukha akong midget habang kasabay kong naglakakad papuntang testing room yung kakausap sakin. Ayos lang naman yung mga questions. Pero sa hindi ko malaman na kadahilanan e may mga parte na na-engot ako. Lalo nung kailangan kong dumakdak ng mga 1-2minutes. Hindi ko alam kung ano pumasok sa kukote ko at 30sec lang ako nagsalita. Ako na nagmadali at nagmagaling!

Gusto kong iuntog ang ulo ko sa pader ng 1 million times. Napakasakit Kuya Eddie... Ako na tanga sa Writing. AKO NAAAAA! (TTT_TTT)

Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum

The most overdue post evarrrr :( Sobrang busy kasi sa paggawa ng wala :) Anyway better late than super laterrrrr....

During my natsuyasumi/summer vacation (I know anong petsa na?!?!) Basuraman and I were looking for some nearby parks or museums where we can bike to. Read: tipid mode. Basuraman found the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, which is a 30-minute bike ride from our house and is situated inside the Koganei Park. It was my first time to visit an Open Air Museum. I had the chance to see one last year when we went to Hakone but it was raining so we had to cancel it. Anyhoo...

The Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum (江戸東京たてもの園 Edo Tōkyō Tatemono En, lit. "Edo Tokyo Buildings Garden") in Koganei Park, Tokyo, Japan, is a museum of historic Japanese buildings.

The park includes many buildings from the ordinary middle class Japanese experience to the homes of wealthy and powerful individuals such as former Prime Minister Takahashi Korekiyo, out in the open in a park.

The museum enables visitors to enter and explore a wide variety of buildings of different styles, periods, and purposes, from upper-class homes to pre-war shops, public baths (sentō), and Western-style buildings of the Meiji period, which would normally be inaccessible to tourists or other casual visitors, or which cannot be found in Tokyo. We reached the place at around 4 in the afternoon because of my katamaran este I thought the temperature would be cool at that time. Summer here is really H-O-T. At noontime it's like the SUN is just 3 steps away from you. You wouldn't want to go outside. Instant cremation itwu. Exaggeration at its best haha ^o^ We were kinda surprised that there weren't so many people considering it's a holiday. I guess the museum lacks some promotion.

We were able to enter some of the buildings/shops and houses. Loved it. Though inside some of the houses there's this cryptic feeling that anytime some Japanese ghost will appear and grab me. Also there were areas in some houses where I had this difficulty in breathing as if the air is so thick. Meganon. Kunwari nasa isang horror tv series lang :P

The foot bath area of the bath house was open to the public for free. Unfortunately the bath house was near to closing when we arrived at the place.

We found this old grocery store displaying merchandises being sold during that time. I wonder what's the taste of canned whale meat. Hmmm....

According to Mr. Wikipedia Spirited Away Director Hayao Miyazaki visited the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Museum for inspirations on the film.

Our visit to the museum was fun and interesting at the same time since we don't get to see open-air museums that often. Ijou desu ^_^

Odaiba Gundam Project 2011

It's back! And we didn't let this opportunity pass ^_^

Parts of the life size RX-78-2 Gundam from the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam anime series is displayed at Symbol Promenade Park from August 13-21. The park is located at Tokyo's artificial island Odaiba. It was Basuraman's first time to see the life size Gundam Mobile Suit. Though in disassembled parts we were able to see its details up close.

Every day the designs of the admission tickets change. The fee is 500 yen for adults and free for preschoolers. Basuraman and I went there last August 17 and this is what we got.

Buttered Garlic Shrimp

Last week (Thursday night) I cooked buttered garlic shrimp for my beloved husband Basuraman even though I know that there is a big possibility that his allergy will be triggered. I can't/don't really cook but ever since I became an OFW I was forced to do so. Ayokong mamatay sa gutom hehe. I've been always referring to panlasangpinoy.com's recipes everytime I wanted to cook Filipino foods. So here's my version of Buttered Garlic Shrimp. A little bit different from panlasang pinoy's version. I didn't use lemon soda and parsley because I forgot to buy them. I just used what's available in the cabinet/fridge and added a twist in my reference recipe ^_^ (Sorry for the crappy photos of the procedure. I just used my camfon.)

For the Ingredients I used:

9pcs shrimps
1/2 cup butter
1 head garlic
tomato catsup
pepper and sugar
1 pc chili

Procedure:

1. Melt the butter in a pan.

2. Add the garlic. Be sure that the butter has melted and is hot enough to cook the garlic.

3. Put in the shrimp and let it cook. (I dunno why the picture is rotated differently compared to the original file. The important thing is you can see the shrimps.)

4. Place a drizzle of catsup. I put a teaspoon of sugar in it for the sweet taste. Add pepper and chili.

The finished product ^_^ It's very easy to cook and won't take much of your time since shrimps cook easily.

P.S. Basuraman is fine. He immediately took his antihistamine medicine after having dinner because his fingertips were starting to be itchy.

Basuraman and the Lost Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge (レインボーブリッジ Reinbō burijji) is a suspension bridge crossing northern Tokyo Bay between Shibaura Pier and the Odaiba waterfront development in Minato, Tokyo, Japan.

Construction started in 1987 and was completed in 1993. The bridge is 798 metres (2,618 ft) long with a main span of 580 metres (1,903 ft). Officially called the "Shuto Expressway No. 11 Daiba Route - Port of Tokyo Connector Bridge," the name "'Rainbow Bridge" was decided by the public. It is colloquially known as "RB."

The towers supporting the bridge are white in color, designed to harmonize with the skyline of central Tokyo seen from Odaiba. There are lamps placed on the wires supporting the bridge, which are illuminated into three different colors, red, white and green every night using solar energy obtained during the day. Since Basuraman is into photography I took him to Odaiba last month so that he can get a glimpse of the Rainbow Bridge. We left our place in the afternoon hoping that we can catch the sunset by the time we arrive in Odaiba. Unfortunately the sky was cloudy that day and Mr. Sun was missing in action. So while waiting for night to come we roamed around the area and Basuraman did his thing.

Night came and the "rainbow" didn't show up. We waited until 8pm so that Basuraman can take a picture of the bridge at night. Unfortunately the lamps didn't light-up. (Sino'ng may balat sa pwet?) We assumed that it was part of Japan's power saving campaign. After the 3/11 earthquake the government has been asking its people to save electricity to avoid shortage of power since one of its sources of electricity was greatly damaged during the earthquake.

There were these lanterns on the beach which we thought of "pa-consuelo" since Basuraman wasn't able to see the best of the rainbow bridge.

We had our dinner inside AquaCity and ate the most delicious kare/curry at this curry shop which i don't know the name. I don't know know how to read the kanji but I kept the receipt in case we find another branch of the store somewhere out there :) Sometimes we are tempted to go to Odaiba just to eat kare :) Mas mahal pa ang pamasahe sa pagkain :P

Before going home we passed by this shop inside Aquacity. We were looking for some Naruto stuff but most of the merchandises were One Piece.

We got home late and we were very tired. Ang hirap ng tumatanda. Lakad-lakad lang pagod na kagad. Basuraman was a little bit disappointed but he had fun since he was able to take some good pics. At shempre kasama niya kasi ako ^_^

....cooked chicken cordon bleu for the first time. Another FAIL in the history of my cooking. The cheese went out. I had to re-fry some parts because it is still raw in the middle. The sauce has too much butter. Ano pa???? Nakaka-depress ha!

...finally have a bling-bling for my phone ^_^

...should stop worrying too much. It's making me panget and look old. I'll just cross the bridge when I get there.

Hanasanpo at Chichibu

Huling hirit sa panahon ng tagsibol. The super overdue post.

"Uh-oh katamaran's back. will do it tomorrow na lang..."

I was like this for a month. Actually right now I'm thinking if I should continue doing this or just eat my ichigo purin and continue watching IronMan II. Hee ^_^

So last April 17 I (together with Kuya Mylo, Ate Rhodz and husband) went to Chichibu (West Saitama) for this:

I've been seeing this picture since last year and I was really curious if this place really exists! I wasn't able to go last year kasi wala ako kasama. Hanlongkot naman kasi mamasyal mag-isa.

The place was a 2hr (around) train ride from our place. So I took some pictures while on the train.

Sa tagal ng biyahe and with all the trees and mountains we thought we were already in Pinas. Wahleylung. We just thought of that ^_^

After reaching Chichibu Station we had an early lunch at Sukiya because Kuya Allan was already hungry. Wasn't really that hungry so I just ordered a small bowl of gyudon.

The artistically designed hill of moss phlox is located at Shibazakura near Hitsujiyama Park.

I did not expect that we will be seeing lots and lots and lots of sakura trees here. I wanted to cry! Happy! ^_^

I want to do hanami in this place. Under those weeping sakura trees. They are so lovely I wanted to eat them! haha

I was a little bit disapponted (konti lang naman) when I saw the hill. It was not the same with what I saw in the picture. Arte ko lang. Kahit mukhang ulo na may poknat yung iba e sumatotal I enjoyed the place. Kahit nangitim ako kasi naman tanghaling tapat nung inikot namin yung lugar :P

We stopped by this place which is located near the hill for meryienda.

I tried their ikayaki which is a grilled squid. The head with all the tentacles looked scary so I just bought the body part which looks like a hand.

There were also some sheep in the area which I find adorable. Kaso I don't find their smell adorable hehe. Panghe. I don't know why there were sheep in that place. Kinda weird.

Before going home we checked this place which looks like a small market selling foods, souvenirs, plants, etc. Chichibu lang naintindihan ko dun sa banner hehe

This plant caught my attention because it looked fake. I thought it was fake. But it wasn't! First time I saw this kind of color of sakura. I wanted to buy it kaso bulky and looked heavy. Ok fine it was expensive. And I do not have a good history with plants. Sayang ang anda.

I love this plant.

Meryenda ulit! Food stalls like these remind of the fishball-an and all the ihaw-ihaw things in the street of the Philippines. ^_^

One stick of the barbecued meat costs 600yen. Mahalia noh? Anyway minsan lang naman ^_^ By the way the food was for me and Ate Rhodz. Kami na matakaw.

At around 4pm we decided to go home. It was a great experience. ^_^ I hope to visit the place again next year.

Hello Golden Week!

Kahapon pa kami walang pasok at sa Biyernes May6 na ulit ang pasok sa opisina. Pinapasok pa talaga kami ng Biyernes. Di na nila sinagad :)

Naitago ko na ang aking mga winter clothes kasama na ang mga comforters, fleece na kumotsss at bedsheet. Sa ibang araw nako magpapalit ng kurtina para meron pako gagawin :D

My First Hanami

Noong nakaraang Linggo ika-sampu ng Abril 2011 ay nagtungo kami sa Shinjuku Gyoen Garden upang masilayan ang mga namumukadkad at naggagandahang cherry blossoms o sakura. Ang nasabing aktibidad ay tinatawag dito na Hanami. Hanami is one of the most popular events of Spring in Japan. Crowds of people - families, groups of friends, and groups from companies sit under the fully open cherry blossoms, usually on plastic tarps, and have a picnic celebration. The picnic fare consists of a wide variety of foods, snack foods, and sake (rice wine) or other drinks.Ito ang unang beses na nakapag-hanami ako. Sa kabila ng krisis na nangyayari ngayon sa bansang Hapon e hindi na namin pinalampas ang pagkakataong ito para mag-hanami. Mahirap na baka wala ng kasunod. Sa unang pagkakataon ay nakumpleto kami ngunit sa kasamaang palad ay ito na rin ang huli. Nagresign na kasi ang isa naming kasamahan sa trabaho at sa katapusan ng buwang ito ay pupunta na sha sa kung saang lupalop man sha dapat pumunta. Sikretwu itwu :P Nagkukuripot pa ang lolo at ni singkong duling ayaw gumasta para sa kanyang farewell party. Anyhoo...

Paborito ko ang panahon ng tagsibol dahil sa ito lamang ang panahon na lumalabas ang mga sakura. Yung larawan na nasa header ko ay isa mga kuha ko nung linggo. Ang ganda nila no? Feel na feel ko kapag humahangin kasi nagbabagsakan ang mga talulot ng mga sakura. Parang nasa isang Korean teleserye lang ^_^ Actually yung dati kong background pic ay larawan din ng mga sakura. pero that was last year. Anyway nais ko mang maglagay ng maraming pektyurs e binigyan na naman ako ng reminder na lagpas na ako sa limit at kung gusto ko daw ng mas malaking espasyo e magbayad daw ako. Kahit tamad ako e nakuha kong magresize ng pics makapaglagay lang ng kahit konti. Kung magkaibigan tayo sa pesbuk e tignan mo na lamang ang aking album na Hanami 2011. Happy viewing ^_^

*Itinaas na sa Level 7 ang Nuclear Problem ng Fukushima Daiichi Plant sa rating ng International Nuclear Event Scale (INES). The highest in the scale. Same rate that was given to the Chernobyl Nuclear Accident in 1986. Nanlumo kami lahat nung narinig namin ang balitang ito. It seems like merong tinatago ang Japanese government/TEPCO sa mga tao. Hindi namin alam.Tokyo is located 200+km from Fukushima but we're still worrying about the radiation shit because it is airborne. Malapit na ang tag-ulan and once dumating na ang summer the wind will be blowing southwards. May isang bagay na lang akong hinihintay at pag nagkataon malapit nakong mag-Hello Pilipins. Promise.

watdaep. status ko sa fb nung sabado at linggo. natapos na yung exam na nabanggit ko sa post ko isang libong taon na ang nakakaraan. imbes na makapagpahinga nung weekend e 2 araw ako na parang natatae na naiihi na nanlalamig with matching panginginig. nerbiyosa lang. pag naalala ko yung mga pinagsasagot ko gusto kong mamaluktot sa hiya. ang katangahan nga naman lumalabas sa mga panahon na ayaw mong palabasin. pero wala naman na ako magagawa. tapos na. move forward. gawin ang susunod na hakbang habang naghihintay ng resulta. kapag hindi na kayo nakabasa ng patungkol sa resulta nung pagsusulit ibig sabihin hindi ko nakuha yung kailangan ko na band. pero shempre umaasa pa rin ako na makukuha ko yung target ko na band. ang mahal kaya nung jinayupak na exam. heniwei.....

sa weekend in full bloom na ang mga sakura (cherry blossoms). baka pumunta kami sa Shinjuku Gyoen Garden sa Linggo. Last year kasi busy sa trabaho at kung anik-anik kaya hindi man lang ako nakapunta ng park. ang napiktyuran ko lang e yung mga sakura na nadadaanan ko papuntang office.

The first time TEPCO announced the scheduled power outage, people started again to panic buy. This time flashlights, batteries, rechargeable lamps and the likes easily vanished in stores. Even candles were not spared. We were able to buy a small flashlight and a pack of candles from the 100yen shop. We tried to minimize the usage of the candles by alternately using our laptops as source of light. I even used my kindle. Scheduled brownouts usually last for 2-3 hrs. So it was not really that bad.

When TEPCO and the government asked everybody to save electricity everyone responded. These are my observations.

- Lights from the vending machines are turned off (leaving only the lights of the selection buttons on).

- Grocery stores also lessened the number of lights in use. Same with the convenient stores. Even the temperatures on the coolers/chillers/refrigerators were set higher than the usual. There is this one store (Maruetsu) which has an escalator still unoperational. Kawawa tuloy ang mga thundercats.

- Lights on the displays of some shopping malls are turned off. Electronic billboards are not in full operation.

- Government offices use less numbers of elevators as well as the number of lights switched on.

- In our office 50% of the elevators are temporarily not being used. Lights on the hallways are switched off. Nakakatakot tuloy lumabas sa gabi. Ako na matatakutin. I think they also turned off the warmer for the seat covers of the toilet. Lamig tuloy sa pwet hehe.

Siyempre pahuhuli ba naman kami ^_^

- There are nights when I sleep at Ate Joy and Kuya Roel's room so we just have to use 1 heater.
- We eat at the same time so that we can turn off the lights in the kitchen as soon as the chores are finished.
- Before we sleep we turn off our heaters or set the timer for an hour.

What I do not like about the system of the TEPCO is that when they see that the supply of electricity is enough they cancel the brownouts 2 hours before the scheduled time. This is a problem in our company. Just like what happened last Thursday and Wednesday. The company decided to transfer the Saturday and Sunday rest days to Thursday and Friday because of the scheduled brownout. Thursday and Friday came but no brownout happened. TEPCO decided to cancel them. Hassle. Sayang. I know they have been thinking a lot about the nuclear plant problem but I hope they can fix this issue.

Bottled mineral waters are starting to be available in supermarkets but selling is restricted to 1 bottle per person. The ban on giving tap water to infants was already lifted. However we still refrain from drinking tap water. Palipasin muna namin ang 1 linggo. Nag-iingat lang kami. So aside from bottled water I'm taking sports drink and Calpis water. Yun na lang kasi ang available sa grocery the last time I went there.

When I had to move to another country for my new job I asked my mom to make curtains for me. I know I can buy the curtains wherever place I will be but I just want something that is created by my mom. Since I have trouble sleeping in a very bright surrounding I see to it that my windows have curtains to block the light coming from outside. My mom would choose the pattern of the cloth from plain to floral. There was a time when she just picked two cloths with different pattern and combined the two to make my curtains. These past few days I was considering of changing my curtains to vertical blinds. The color of my curtains is stating to fade due to frequent washing. I am also planning to change the theme of my room so the curtain also has to go. I got the idea of the blinds when I had a chance to visit my husband’s sister’s house last year and saw her blinds. It was awesome and since it is customized I can add some tweak in my blinds. How great is that? I am getting excited again.

Since my mom’s curtains will be gone I will be asking her to make me a set of bed sheet. I just hope this time she won’t play with weird combination of patterns and colors again. Love you mamoo ^_^

Little by little basic commodities like rice, bread and cup noodles are starting to appear in some grocery stores. Last Saturday the 10-kilo rice from Ate Joy's friend arrived and some of us picked-up the rice that we asked from a Japanese friend to buy for us. Alleluia! I guess food supply is starting to be normal again. Mejo nakakahinga na kami ng maluwag hanggang sa narinig namin sa NHK news at nabasa namin sa NHK World ang balitang....

Radioactive iodine has been detected in Tokyo tap water in levels above the safe limit for infants.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! E sa gripo lang kami kumukuha ng tubig para inumin at pangluto (pero siyempre finiflter muna namin). anakngteteng. panic buying na naman ang mga jinayupaaaaaak! Kaya kong hindi kumain ng bigas for 1 week pero kapag tubig na ang involved e ibang usapan na ito. Call us paranoid but we're talking of radiation here. Ayoko naman na tatlo ang kamay ng batang iluluwal ko. According to the news rain might have put iodine in Tokyo water. Umulan lang naman nung Lunes at Martes at naulanan kami. Kumusta naman yun.

Up to now we're still experiencing aftershocks. Yesterday (Tuesday) we felt 5 earthquakes. 3 while we were in the office (between 9AM to 7PM JST) and 2 while we were already in the apartment (between 7PM to 11PM JST). Kausap ko pa si Basuraman kagabi sa skype when the 5th earthquake happened.This morning we felt a small quake before leaving the apartment. Kung kelan naman mejo napapanatag na kalooban namin dahil dumadalang na ang lindol e bigla na lang bumawi ng bonggang-bongga ang mga aftershocks.

Wala kaming pasok bukas at sa Biyernes kaya papasok kami ng Sabado at Linggo. Epekto ng mga scheduled brownouts. Ang haba ng working days namin next week. Hanggang kailan ang mga nasabing brownouts? hindi rin namin alam.

Nakaka-frustrate. Just when we thought everything's getting better it turns out to be getting worse. Hindi namin alam kung may mabibilan pa kaming bottled water bukas. Uulan pa mandin. God help us.

A Week After

To make up for the loss of power from the crippled nuclear plants, TEPCO announced that there will be scheduled rolling power cuts. The first planned power outage in Japan after World War II. The power outages do not affect central Tokyo. Unfortunately we're not part of central Tokyo that's why we are affected. The roration brownout started in our place last Wednesday. The power outage lasted for 2 hours, from 7pm-9pm.

Last Thursday I did not go to office because it's my furikae (exchange rest day). Despite the crisis that's happening I went with my original plan of going to the immigration office to fix some papers. I was soooo surprised with the number of people lined up applying for re-entry permit. People of different nationalities (most of them are Chinese). Because I was scared of being stranded in that place (the papers can wait) I decided to leave immediately and search Tachikawa area for rice. Yes we're running out of rice.

As you all know people started panic buying as soon as they've heard of the power outage, the nuclear plant disaster and the possibility of another big quake. They are hoarding food and water in convenient and grocery stores. Even gasoline. Sa Pilipinas kapag nagpanic buying na ang mga tao malaki pa rin ang posibilidad na may mabili ka pa kasi hindi lahat ng tao may pera. E dito lahat may pera kaya wala na talagang mabili.

A friend of Ate Joy's called today and told her of the 10kilos of rice she sent for us. Then we learned from a Japanese friend that we can buy rice in his place. yey ^_^

Today after work we went to our "suking" grocery store and we're kinda relieved that we were able to buy meat, veggies and some stuff that we need. There's still no bread and rice but we are very very very thankful of what we've bought. ^_^

There is still the nuclear plant problem and the nuke plant disaster rating was raised to 5 but I believe God won't let any harm come to us.

After the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that hit Japan last Wednesday another earthquake rocked the country last Friday having a magnitude of 9.0. The strongest earthquake to hit the country and the fifth-largest in the world since 1900 and was nearly 8,000 times stronger than one that devastated Christchurch, New Zealand last month.

Sa lakas ng lindol nung Biyernes akala ko mamamatay nako. As of this writing/typing I am still restless. The earthquake started last Friday March 11, 2011at 2:46PM JST and hanggang kanina meron pa ring mga aftershocks. Sa dami ng aftershocks diko na mabilang. it's just so fuckin' unbelievable. it was different from the previous earthquakes that I experienced here.

I was at the office when the earthquake happened. We are located at the 6th floor. Napalipas na namin yung takot namin nung lumindol ng Miyerkules. It was a normal Friday afternoon. We were waiting for the 3 o'clock break. Then the ground started shaking. Up and down. We stared at each other as fear started to creep in. Then we were swaying sideways. It was getting stronger. Someone shouted to grab our helmets and hide under our desks just like what we do in the earthquake drill. I started crying. I thought I was going to die. I was trying to reach Ate Joy's hand but we were separated by our cabinets. The building was swaying violently. Up and down then sideways. Things on our desks were starting to fall. Our drawers sliding out. The shaking won't stop. The sound was deafening. I was crying and praying and was thinking bout my loved ones in the Philippines esp. Basuraman. I have never been that scared in my entire life. According to some news the quake lasted for 3-5 minutes. I was asking God to stop the shaking. If God has to take my life at that moment then let His will be done. As I am writing this entry I am crying and the tears won't stop from falling. Everytime I remember that situation I can't help but cry. I am still scared. I am really really scared. Hindi ko akalain na yung nakikita ko lang sa TV na nangyayari sa mga offices sa Japan e mararanasan ko rin.

We went out of our desks as soon as the shaking starts to weaken. I was still crying and shaking. There were still aftershocks and they were strong. But there was no immediate instruction for us to evacuate the building. The 6 of us (the only Filipinos on the floor) were starting to panic. We wanted to get out of the building as soon as possible. But we waited for instructions. We tried to remain calm just like our Japanese colleagues. Kawamura-san instructed everyone to fall in line so that the persons in charge of the disaster committee can start counting. We stayed for another 10 minutes while the building was continuing to sway because of the aftershock. It was so painful I wanted to faint. We ran as soon as we were ordered to go down.

We were directed in a futsal field located within the vicinity of the company. We saw how the glasses of our building moved and the antenna on top of the building swayed. I was trying to call Basuraman and my mom but the phone line was down. By 4 o'clock we were instructed to return to our floor. With what had happened we opted to go home. Good thing is we just bike the office from our place. All public transportation was suspended. I immediately called Basuraman and my mom as soon as I got connection to inform them that I was safe. We were very lucky because there was still an internet connection when we reached our apartments. Thank goodness there's facebook. I was able to communicate with my loved ones and friends through it.

Thank God we are safe and we are far from the coastline. Many cities in Miyagi prefecture were literally wiped out. Kalunus-lunos talaga ang nangyari sa Japan. Especially those who were hit by the tsunami.

Yesterday we went to the nearest grocery store in our place to stock some food. Better be prepared. I wanted to cry when I saw the situation in the store. There was no bread. Paubos na ang mga cup noodles. The number of people shopping was not normal. They were panic buying. Diyos ko ni hindi ko naranasan ang ganito sa Pinas. Pinigilan ko na lang sarili ko na huwag umiyak.

Because of the effect of the quake in the nuclear plant in Fukushima, rotating power outages will be implemented tomorrow Monday. Earlier this evening the schedules were already announced. No electricity in our place from 9:20- 13:00 and 18:20-22:00. Ang lamig pa mandin ngayon. Buti na lang may isa pa akong comforter. Lamigin pa mandin ako. Hindi namin alam kung hanggang kailan yung brownout rotation but according to Kuya Mylo hanggang katapusan daw ng Abril. I hope there will be no further damages in the nuclear plants.

the life in the ring of fire

At 11:45AM JST, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit Japan. It was centered 160 kilometers east of the Ojika Peninsula (Read more here).We felt it here in Tokyo. The earthquake lasted for almost 30 seconds and there was even an aftershock. The longest and strongest earthquake I've ever experienced in this country. I'll never get used to these effin' earthquakes. I got dizzy and Ate Rhodz was close to vomiting.

While the 5 of us (the only Filipinos/foreigners in the 6th floor of the building) were starting to grab our helmets in case the earthquake alarm goes on, some of our Japanese colleagues were joking around and laughing. Some were still working as if nothing's happening. What the F right? But they are used to it and they are confident that the building won't take damages at a certain intensity and it was designed and made for earthquakes.

The whole place was swaying. Si kuya mylo konting-konti na lang daw tatakbo na talaga. Si Kuya kim pangiti-ngiti pero kitang-kita mo sa mata na gusto na ring tumakbo. Ako as usual was already panicking inside. I was holding my mobile phone very tight, starting to pray and was thinking of my loved ones in the Philippines. Nerbiyosa much. Pasensha na. Siguro kung lumindol pa ulit pagkatapos nung aftershock umiyak nako. After the earthquake that happened in New Zealand sinong namang hindi ninenerbiyosin sa lindol? dabah?

Anyway we're still good and no harm was done. Thank God. I can't wish that it won't happen again because as long as Japan lies on the Ring of Fire, earthquake will just be a common thing. I'm just hoping for low magnitudes. Magnitudes that will not bring any damage. Magnitudes so low that you will not feel any movement. Please.

Hina Matsuri

The Hina Matsuri or Doll Festival or Girl's Festival is celebrated on March 3. On this day, families with girls wish their daughters a successful and happy life. Dolls are displayed in the house together with peach blossoms. The doll festival has its origin in a Chinese custom in which bad fortune is transferred to dolls and then removed by abandoning the doll on a river. I really really wanted to have this set of dolls. But that thing is very expensive! And how on earth am I going to bring it back to my lupang hinirang? Baka mas mahal pa ang magastos ko sa pagpapadala compared to the price of the commodity itself. But seriously I really want them.

Anyway I didn't know that today is hinamatsuri until I received some goodies from Hayakawa-san. Last year she gave us ladies some hello kitty munchies.

And that's when I realized the logo of Google today. Toinks! Parang wala ako sa Japan hehe

habang namimili nung sabado napukaw ng isdang nasa larawan ang aking pansin. isang bagay ang pumasok sa aking isipan. JANITOR FISH ba yan??!!!! or kamukha lang? janitor fish na kulay red/orange?

kung kelan naman sinaniban ako ng espiritu ng kasipagan e tsaka naman ako nagkaroon ng teebee. magbabakasyon kasi saglit sila daddy roel and mommy joy kaya pinahiram muna nila sa akin. oo ako na poorita. sa loob ng 2 taon kong pamamalagi dito sa nihon e hindi man ako bumili ng teebee. bakit? hindi ko naman kailangan. ayos nako sa laptop basta may net.

Exactly 1 month from now i will be taking an exam and up to now I am not reviewing seriously. one of my favorite past times here is browsing of pictures. may it be straight from the memory card of my cam or from the depths of baul ni lola (read: super luma). sometimes i don't realize that i am already spending 3 hours staring at the screen of my laptop. weird huh? boring? well that's me ^_^

thank you to our ever growing, fast changing technology i can just plug a stick or a disk to the computer or just scan my hardrive and i can already view the thousands or even millions (i know exag hihi) of pictures i wanted to see. i love looking at them. i love looking at memories ^_^

i am loved!

this week i am in charge of cooking our meals so today i woke up at 6am to cook dinner because i might be rendering overtime later. after cooking i turned on the laptop then proceeded to taking a bath. this is what i saw when i came back to my room.

you don't know how much i love receiving flowers. i've been dreaming of receiving tulips since the day i discovered they existed.

i was very happy. giddy. teary-eyed. happy. giddy. i wanted to shout! veeeery happyyyyy (^____^)

one pot contains pink, red, and white tulips :)

i immediately thought that they were from mommy joy and daddy roel since there were 2 pots of tulips. then i felt sad because it would have been better if they came from Basuraman. then I saw Basuraman sent me a message in gtalk saying that he's already at the office, greeted me a happy valentyms day and said he wished he could send me some flowers and sweets but he's afraid they won't reach my place. i was starting to have tantrums.

before mommy joy and i left the apartment she said that they were from Basuraman. they were just his accomplices. right there i took a picture of the flowers and cake and posted it on facebook. it was the fastest way for him to know that i received them. what more can i say. I married the sweetest man in the world ^_^

it is unusual to give your loved one flowers in pots but i think they are more practical than those arranged in bouquets. unless the person you're giving the flowers doesn't want the responsibility of taking good care of them. one more thing presentation does matters ^_^

my first snow experience here in tokyo happened february last year. na-traffic yata kaya nalate ng dating ^_^

eventhough it was snowing we still went to the gymnasium to play badminton. the last time we played was 2 months ago. no exercise for 2 months! eeeek 0_0

we stopped first at this place to take some pictures. it wasn't really snowing that hard that's why the snow didn't pile up that much. snowing rarely happens in tokyo.

japanese rice + rice vinegar + tuna with mayo for filling salt and pepper to taste. yung pepper nirequest ni Basuraman

isingit ko lang...nag-materialize naman nung new year ang pangarap naming makagawa ng california maki. i bought some of the ingredients and materials here in Japan (sushi mat, nori, japanese rice). luckily available ang japanese rice vinegar sa suking tindahan. we used crab sticks, ripe mango and cucumber for the filling (with mayo). avocado sana kaso wala sa panahon.

for the sushi rice we just combined the cooked rice, rice vinegar, salt and sugar.

On the night of Day 2 basuraman and I decided to cancel our Danao trip since we can not afford the price of the rent for a private vehicle and we do not want to take chances on commuting. Anyways we went to Bohol to relax and not to be stressed. After dinner I called my sis Leloti on what else to do in Bohol and she suggested that we take a Panglao island tour. After some phone calls we had our Panglao island tour set courtesy of Kuya Rod.

Day3

We got up early for a walk in the beach before our 10AM Panglao tour. photoshoot ito. juk.

At 10 AM we were already at the frontdesk. We do not want to be late of course. After 5 minutes the person who will be driving us around Panglao island sent Basuraman an SMS saying he's on his way. I dunno where he came from but after 25 minutes he arrived and the inside of the car was kinda dirty. there were stains on the seat. oh well....

I guess the bohol bee farm experience was the best part for me of our bohol travel. For the first time i ate flowers! as in fresh flowers. it was a little bit bitter but combined with the other ingredients of the salad plus the dressing it was great. Everything that we ate was organic.

We also tried their ginger flavored ice cream. Man it was spicy! It's like there's this burning cold thing in your mouth everytime you take a bite. Ironic eh? Actually we just wanted to try the malunggay flavor but the staff said that we had to choose another flavor. So we tried the ginger. It was worth trying but I tell you would not ask for more ^0^

We bought pesto spread from their souvenir shop. For 2 bottles of pesto spread Basuraman took forever to pay them. Because of this woman who kept on changing and separating her merchandise while on the cashier. She should just have arranged everything, separated them to whatever arrangement she liked then went to the cashier to pay. But hell no! It's like she was the only customer paying. hay hay hay...

We thought of having us dropped at Alona beach but due to the pasalubongs that we bought (and katamaran ehem) we headed back straight to Dumaluan resort. I told Basuraman that I will just rest for an hour then we will hit the beach. I slept at 3pm and when I woke up it was already 9pm! I overslept -_-

We promised not to eat again at DBR grill but we still went there for dinner and took the risk of getting another bad CS. Since it was already 9PM there were few customers (sobrang gabi na yata ng 9PM sa kanila). Personnels were accommodating and we easily had our order. Basuraman and I concluded that there were too many people during the bad CS experience and the crew cannot handle too much pressure hehe

I had fun despite the negative CS and SOME unfriendly locals who prefer foreigners and english speaking people over mukhang puritang nagtatagalog na tulad namin. I love the beach but not the Dumaluan Beach Resort. I love the reef area. I love the virgin island. I love the dolphins. I love peanut kisses! Did I say I love the beach? Yeah I love the beach ^_^

Next stop...PALAWAN! Coron or El Nido? ^_^

P.S. Forgive my french este english pala. I know that my grammar is worse than that of a grade 2 student. Even the structure of this post (teka ano ba yung structure hehe). ito dapat yung halloween entry ko last year pero dahil hindi ako mahilig makiuso e ngayon ko na lang pinost. Tutal e ilang buwan na lang naman na e halloween na :P

naikwento ko na ito dati. yun nga lang hindi in full detail.

naranasan mo na ba na yung alam mong gising ka pero di ka makagalaw? gusto mong sumigaw pero walang boses na lumalabas sa iyong bibig? naranasan ko na ito dati pa pero ang pinakamalala yata e nung marso taong dalawang libo at sampu....

ordinaryong gabi. patulog nako. ng biglang parang may dumagan sakin. di ako makagalaw at hindi ako makasigaw. kitang-kita ko ang paligid ko. hindi ko alam kung gising ba talaga ako o nakatulog na. pucha binabangungot yata ako! pagod nako sa kakapilit gumalaw. natawag ko na lahat ng santo. buti naalala ko na sa mga ganung pangyayari daw e subukan mong igalaw ang daliri mo sa paa at magigising ka. epektib. nakakatakot kasi akala ko katapusan ko na. mag-isa ko ko pa mandin sa kwarto. nagdasal ako at sinubukan kong matulog ulit pero nakabukas ang ilaw. at dahil hde ako talaga makatulog binuksan ko na lang ang laptop. nanood na lang ako ng kahit na anong palabas hanggang sa nakatulugan ko na ito.

nangyari na kasi sakin dati yung ganun kaya hindi ko na lang pinansin. e pagkanganamansinuswerte e naulit na naman kinagabihan. at ang sobrang nakapagpatakot sakin e 3 beses shang nangyari nung gabing iyon. parang 3 beses ako binangungot. kada pikit ko e bigla na lang ako hde makagalaw. sa sobrang takot ko na baka sa susunod kong pagpikit e hindi nako magising natakot akong matulog. walang halong eklavoo pramis.

bumili ako ng LED lightbulb/lamp para yun na lang ang bubuksan ko pag matutulog ako kasi magastos kung gabi-gabi na lang nakabukas yung fluorescent lamp ng kwarto ko. hindi ako natutulog ng wala akong naririnig na musika. maaga na ang 3am kong pagtulog. once/twice a week nakikitulog ako sa kwarto ng aking mommy joy at daddy roel para makatulog lang ng maayos. halos isang buwan akong ganito. araw-araw tuloy lagi akong inaantok sa opis. na-master ko na nga ang pagtulog ng nakadilat ang mata.

eto na yata ang climax. pagkatapos ng isang buwan sinubukan kong matulog ng patay ang ilaw at walang musika. baka kasi nagiging OA na lang ako. at muli nangyari na naman ang kinatatakutan ko. ang kaibahan nga lang e isang babaeng naka-itim ang dumagan sakin. wala shang mukha. pero alam ko babae sha. diko na alam kung paano ako nagising. kinabukasan kila mommy joy ako natulog at sa mga sumunod pang araw.

natapos ang kalbaryo ko ng namatay ang aking lola. simula nun nakakatulog nako ng normal. siguro dahil mashado na akong occupied sa lungkot. nkatulong malamang ang gabi-gabi kong pag-iyak. hindi kasi ako nakauwi ng pinas para masulyapan ang labi ng aking lola.

mula nun hindi nako ulit binangungot. actually nangyari lamang ulit yun nung umuwi ako sa pinas sa unang gabi na hindi ko katabi si basuraman kasi nasa sucat siya nun. tapos nung unang gabi ko pagbalik ko dito sa japan.

sabi ni ate joy baka daw kasi hindi ako nagdarasal bago matulog. o baka naman dahil sa homesick or stress. baka naman kasi takot ang lola ko na bumiyahe sa kabilang buhay mag-isa kaya pilit niya ako isinasama. after 1 month at wala pa ring nangyari sa plano niya e nagdesisyon na siyang lumakad mag-isa. pwede rin naman ang lola ko ang tumulong sakin para makatulog nako ng maayos. kung ano man ang dahilan ng pangyayaring iyon e isa lang naman ang hiling ko: huwag na sanang maulit dahil baka sa susunod na bangungutin ako e hindi nako magising.

p.s. epektib talaga yung paggalaw ng daliri sa paa pramis. tsaka shempre wag kalimutan magdasal.

Upon arriving at Dumaluan Resort Basuraman requested the receptionist to have our breakfast packed for the next day since we have to be early for the dolphin watching. 5:30am ang departure namin from the resort and same time ang sinabi ni basuraman para pick-upin namin ang bfast.

we stayed in a cottage type (air-conditoned) room.

1. parang kami yata ang unang gumamit ng room. hektwali yung katabing cottage e ginagawa pa.
2. panalo ang (?) inch lcd tv (with cable na 10 lang yata channel hehe). eventhough we're on a vacation there has to be a cabletv. isa ito sa mga requirement nung pinahanap ko si basuraman ng tour package.
3. i love love love the shower.
4. may alambre sa labas para sampayan ng basang damit ^_^
5. the cottage has a small terrace. kakatuwa kahit hindi man kami tumambay dun kasi mainit sa labas

6. the rest of the cottages are still under renovation so ang gulo gulo sa labas. nagkalat ang mga gamit and trabahador na kung makatingin e...no comment na lang -_-

pagkatapos ikalat ang gamit sa sahig e nagtampisaw na kagad ako sa dagat. huweeeeeeeeeeee!

After dinner we went to the front desk to ask for the duplicate key of our room and also requested for a small table kasi nga wala ng space sa sahig para sa gamit namin. lumipas ang magdamag walang lamesitang dumating.

Day 2

dolphin watching (waters between Pamilacan and Balicasag Island)

alas singko y media ng umaga impunto nasa front desk na kami para kunin ang aming packed breakfast. sa awa ni Tralala wala yung nirequest naming packed bfast. sinabi ko na rin na walang lamesa na dumating kagabi. ang tanging nasabi ni ms. receptionist e wala daw kasing nag-endorse sa kanya. hindi tayo marunong humingi ng pasensha ate??? tapos may bayad daw yung styro na gagamitin for packed bfast. ok payn madami kami pera wahaha juk. tapos etong si kuya bangkero ang sabi dun daw kami sa frontdesk maghintay. yun pala dun na sa tabing dagat. pinilit tanggalin ang imbyerna. hde ako pumunta ng bohol para mainis.

Nanghihinayang ako ng bonggang-bongga kasi wala kaming dalang underwater camera ni basuraman. tulo-laway si watashi sa ganda ng reefs ng Balicasag. kinabog ang snorkeling experience ko sa hundred islands (pangasinan) at boracay. walang halong exaggeration. hindi namin kinailangang maglabas ng pagkain para lang lumabas ang mga isda kasi andun na kagad sila na parang nakalublob ka lang sa isang higanteng aquarium.

paglubog na paglubog ko sa tubig e pumaibabaw kagad ako. akala ni kuya-bantay e nalulunod nako. e pano ba naman kasi 2 meters mula dun sa kinatatayuan namin e bangin (ano ba tawag sa bangin na nasa ilalaim ng tubig?). dun daw kasi yung dive site. kahit alam kong may life vest ako e inandaran ako ng niyerbiyos. bigla ko pang narinig yung DUN DUN DUN DUN (soundtrack ng Jaws) sa imagination ko. pano kung biglang may lumabas sa kawalan na yun? at bigla ako kunin? pano ha? panoooooo???

ayaw na naming lumayo ni basuraman kaya sa DBR grill na lamang kami nagdinner. located sa public area ng dumaluan beach resort. nalowka kami ni basuraman sa kainan na itetch. hindi ko nakuhang magtake ng pictures kasi naimbyerna na naman si watashi. antagal naming naghintay sa pag-oorder pa lang.
- busy yung isang attendant sa pagtake ng order nung lalakeng naabutan namin sa counter. ewan ko kung anong pinagtatalunan nila kasi bisaya yung salita. after 100 years tsaka lumapit yung isang attendant para kunin ang order namin.
- basta na lang kinuha nung tomboy yung order namin without even repeating kung ano ba yung inorder namin or kung may gusto pa kami. she wasn't speaking to us! basta na lang niya kinuha yung bayad at binigay sa cashier without even waiting for the change. hintay mode na naman kami sa sukli.
-ok yung food. negative CS lang talaga.

wala pa rin yung lamesita na nirequest ko. hindi ko na tuloy naitanong yung tungkol sa hot water at housekeeping kasi wala silang kwentang kausap. kung hde available e di sabihin nila samin hindi yung ni ha ni ho wala man lang response sa request ko. pag foreigner at nag-eenglish ang kausap nila napaka-accommodating. hay hay hay....

dapat pupunta kami ni basuraman sa Dana for our day 3 to try the "Sui-slide" and "the plunge". kaso nung nakita namin yung bus and kung gano kadalang ng public vehicles e tinamad na kami. 3,500 petot ang rent sa isang private car for 8hrs kung gusto naming pumunta dun. hindi na namin kaya ni basuraman yun. andami na kaya nung pang-jollibee ^_^

basuraman and i stayed in bohol for 4 days and 3 nights (1.4-7.11). yung lang. bow ^_^

isang bagsakan na lang. kasi pag hinati ko pa ang entry na ito sa ilang parts e malamang natuwid na ang kulot kong buhok e diko pa nagagawa/naipo-post yung part 2. ang mag-skip read e mag-skip read na. wala ako maisip na parusa. ang bait ko kaya ^_^

hektwali the original plan was to go to Sagada with elotte and jep. tapos naging balai isabel na nauwi sa kaming 2 na lang ni basuraman kasi nga hde magtugma-tugma ang mga sched. at dahil winter ngayon dito sa japown e sinamantala ko ang init sa pinas and i want some white sand bebeh!

hanap si basuraman ng mga travel package echlavoo sa bohol with accomodation and everything chenes in it sa internet and he found Green Earth Tours & Travel, Inc. Nung una 3d/2n lang kaso we thought parang bitin kaya we ended getting the 4d/3n package with the 3rd day as our free day kasi nangarap ang inyong lingkod na makapunta ng Danao para i-try ang Sui-slide and the Plunge. kaso....

December na nung nagbook kami ng flight kasi nga super last minute na lang na naipilit ko yung bohol hehe. Dahil hindi kaya ng budget ang PAL at CebuPac during that time we landed having our flights booked at Air PhilExpress. so far so good. it was my second time to fly domestic and luckily i haven't experienced any delay. the first time was last aug2010 when basuraman and I went to Boracay via Cebu Pac. dapat nga mas maaga makakalapag yung eroplano kaso walang parking. pramis nisabi yun nung pilot! 2 planes lang pala ang kaya ng Tagbilaran airport.

tarsiers are nocturnal animal meaning they are asleep during day and active during night.

i think this one has insomia. siya lang ang nakita naming gising.

According to our guide tumaas ang mortality rate ng mga tarsiers kaya nilimit na lamang ang mga tao sa pag-view sa kanila. We are not even allowed to wake them up kaso nakakagulat lang nung nakita namin na mismong yung bantay ang nanggising sa tarsier dahil may isang pamilya na ingisero at inglesera na gustong magpapicture. Tarsiers are suicidal when they get stressed. Tarsier holds its breath to death.

They provide guides for those availing the tour. And ours was the best! Kuya Michael was so spontaneous and hindi nawawalan ng banat at (green) jokes.

Try their "Madame Butterflies Natural Fruit Ice Cream". No they're not made from butterflies. Waleylung. The guide suggested kasi na we try the ice cream. kumain naman kami. It was good. I had Ube and Basuraman I think had Halo-halo (para daw andun na lahat).

Hindi nakalusot sa mapanuring mata ni manang. People here are still very much conservative and they strictly follow dress codes inside the church.

I tried to hide my plunging neckline with my curls kaso nakita ni manang yung likuran. Binalutan niya tuloy ako ng parpol na cloth.

Taking of pictures inside the Baclayon Museum is not allowed. Everything is so old and fragile inside the museum.

Before going to the shrine Ms. Karen asked us if we already wanted to buy "pasalubong". We agreed and went to this souvenir shop na nakalimutan ko na ang pangalan. we were given discount coupons. they have everything there. different souvenirs like clothings, keychains, accessories, ref magnets, bag, etc. Native delicacies like ube jam, bohol's peanut kisses, ube and cheese bar, etc. sa sobrang tagal namin sa shop e napagsarhan na pala kami nung shrine. baka daw may date yung nagbabantay kasi ang aga nagsara. kaya kinuhanan na lang ni Basuraman yung shrine.

according again to Ms. Karen this wasn't even the exact place where the blood compact took place. maganda daw kasi ang scenery kaya jan siya nilagay.

After the Bohol Countryside Tour Ms. Karen and Kuya Tony dropped us in our resort.

The direct meaning of bonenkai is "forget-the-year party". Basically it has the meaning to forget the unpleasant memories of the passing year and to prepare oneself to welcome the new year.Just like the year end parties in the Philippines. It is not a Christmas party since Christmas is not a really big event/celebration for Japanese because most of them are not Christians.

So we had our group's bonenkai last Wednesday. We had dinner at this place where we had our "Uchiage" party (party after finishing a project). Shempre tabehodai (eat-all-you-can). Kasama namin si Leader na magaling mag-nihonggo at siya ang tumawag sa resto para sa reservation. We had our reservation at 6pm. Upon reaching the place we're kinda surprised by the not-so-warm welcome that the staff showed us. Very unlikely for Japanese.

While waiting for our orders Leader told us something. At ito ang nakapagpawalang-gana saming lahat. Tumawag ang resto nung afternoon to ask kung malakas daw ba kaming kumain. Like "duh????". They shouldn't have offered a tabehodai service if they can't afford. nagkaroon daw kasi ng incident na may foreigners na kumain dun at naubos daw yung stocks nila. hindi na nabanggit kung anong lahi. kaya mejo cautious na daw sila sa pagtanggap ng foreigners na customers.

at lalong nawalan kami ng gana kasi inaabot ng 1000 years bago dumating yung orders. pakiramdam namin sinasadya nila. meron lang kaming 2 hours para lumamon. so kung tatagalan nga naman nila ang pagseserve e di konti lang makakain namin. kaya ekis na sila.

hindi nako nakakuha ng mga litrato sapagkat naiwan ko ang memory card (na naman) ng aking cam pati na rin ang aking nyelpown. galing ko talaga.

December 17, 2010. Bonenkai naman ng company. at hindi totoo na libre lahat kapag bonenkai ng company. nagbayad kaya kami. anyhoo first time naming umattend dahil last year e nasa pinas na kami nung dinaos ang companybonenkai. sulit naman dahil sobrang nag-enjoy kami.

tables. liqours. foods. but no chairs. ganyan ang setup nung party. advantage na rin samin para derecho kagad sa talampakan ang kinakain. at dahil kami ay mga dakilang KUMPU kids (KUMPUmulutan parang nasa picnic lang) madaling naubos ang pagkain sa aming hapag kumapara sa mga inumin. aba'y kailangang sulitin ang binayad!

natutuwa ako sa presidente namin dahil talagang lumapit sha samin para makipag-usap. hindi sha yung usual high-ranking official na nasa isang lugar lang kasama ang mga taong ka-level niya. ayun sa sobrang galak niya at marahil ay sa kalasingan na rin e pinagsalita niya kaming lahat na Firipin-jin (Filipino) sa harap. over a microphone.

Karaniwan na dito na after ng party e merong 2nd party. usually umaatikabong kantahan sa karaoke. on the way na kami sa aming suking karaoke station ng biglang nayaya si bossing ng ibang group for another session ng inuman for second party. since kasama kami ni bossing at dahil mabait kami go go go na lang.

It was already 12mn when we decided to go home. tama na sobra na bibigay na ang aming katawang lupa. punta na kami sa train station para habulin ang last trip. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! si bossing nagyaya naman mag-karaoke. nanangkupo. ituloy daw yung naudlot na plano. sabi namin next time na lang kaso mapilit talaga. kung hindi lang siya mabait hindi siguro namin pagbibigyan. jusmio marimar. umabot kami ng 3rd party @_@

Oo may Part D pa. joke. pero muntik na. after an hour umuwi na kami. final answer. magtataxi na sana kami ni mommy joy kaso ang haba ng pila kaya sumabay na lang kami dun sa 2 na naka-bike. at naloka kami ng bonggang-bongga dahil nakita namin si bossing na bumabalik! mag-ramen daw kami. during that time tumanggi na kami ng totoong-totoo dahil kung papayag pa kami e malamang hintayin na lang namin ni ate joy yung first trip ng train. at sabi ko nga baka isuka ko na yung kakainin ko if ever. pumayag naman si bossing and next time na lang daw pero kita mo ang lungkot sa kanyang kaliwang mata...awwww...LOL

'tis the time of the year when i am able to indulge in one of my favorite fruits... say hello to persimmon ^_^

katulad ng grapefruit perstaym kong makatikim ng persimmon o kaki (in Japanese) dito sa Nihon. The texture of the flesh reminds me of kaimito (star apple) but not that soft/mushy. And it is sweet! kaya nga naging peborit ko sha ^_^

una ko shang natikman nung pinadala ako ni former company sa probinsha ng Gifu (Japan) last 200(?). sakto naman autumn/winter at sila ang star of the season. magmula nun kada balik ko sa Japan para magtraining at saktong autum/winter e nakakakain ako ng kaki.

sa lahat na lang yata ng bakuran dito e merong puno ng persimmon. ang nakakainis lang hinahayaan lang nila mabulok. e kung ibigay pa nila sakin e di nakatulong pa sila sa nangangailangan ^0^

pero ang gusto ko talagang matikman e yung melon na worth 10,000 yen! oo isang bilog na melon na halos nagkakahalaga ng 5,000 piso. pag tumama ako sa lotto isang linggo ako kakain nun ^0^

I can see Mt. Fuji everyday as long as the sky is clear. ^_^ A very good stress reliever.

I was already in the brink of giving up last night because of my workloads. Aside from the module that I have to design I was given another task. Fortunately email list management already solved my problem on how I am going to disseminate the information (with corresponding time of sending) to the contact persons my supervisor has given me.

I took the pictures this morning. Since it is Saturday and I was the first to come to the office I was able to take some pics. I get shy with my Japanese colleagues who are present in the office every time I wanted to take a picture of Mt. Fuji.

The weather was better yesterday. Clearer than today.

isogashii mode na naman si watashi kaya 11:40 na ng gabi e nagluluto pa akesh ng babaunin para bukas. habang kinakain ang ramen na tira ni ate joy na tira ni kuya roel e napaisip ako kung bakit nagshi-shrink ang meatballs na aking piniprito. mula sa size ng pimpom bols e naging kasinglaki na sha ng jolens. anyhoo dadamihan ko na lang ang sweet&sour sauce para kunwari marami....

hanggang ngayon hindi pa ineemail sakin ang naknampuchang bagong itinerary ko. ilang beses kong kailangan tumawag sa PAL? one hundred times? bat kasi hindi nila gayahin ang Delta pwede online...

sa shokudo (canteen) kami kumakain ng dinner kapag nagre-render ng overtime. hindi na namin mahintay na makauwi ng bahay para kumain dahil kadalasan past 10pm na kami nakakalabas ng office. dati kasi magtitinapay kami sa hapon tapos sa bahay na ang hapunan kahit abutin pa ng 11pm. eto nga pala yung ilang sa mga kinakain ko.

sumasabay pa yung trabaho sa ~~homesick~~ (hindi na pala ako homesick) na nararamdaman ko. ayoko sanang isulat ang mga hindi magandang nangyayari sa akin/amin sa trabaho dahil gusto ko sana e happy memories lang ang nilalaman ng blog na itey (at tsaka baka mabasa ni #$%&@. mahirap na). anyhoo mejo jirita jackson mode ako ngayon dahil meron na namang ipinipilit sakin yung leader namin. hektwali matagal na itong bagay na ito and like it's so last year. hindi ako nagpakita ng interes and eventually bigla na lang nawala. kaso eto siya at nagbabalik! gusto kasi nila na ipahawak ang APR sakin at magfocus lang sa tool na yun. kesho ako na daw ang magiging "future" expert pagdating sa tool na yun blah blah blah. expert yer effin' face. pag nagkataon logic/digital circuits na lang palagi ang iha-handle ko. taliwas sa pagdedesign ko ng iba't ibang analog/digital/mixed modules na 5 years ko ng ginagawa. open naman ako sa pag-aaral ng bagong tool pero parang ayoko na ma-stuck lang ako sa iisang bagay. lalong nawawalan ako ng interes na mag-aral dahil naunahan na ako ng inis.

oh well oh well dahil tataas na ang presyo ng pandesal at kakanin sa pilipinas eto na ang part2 ng Autumn at Takao-san....

gusto ko sanang makipila. baka sakaling tumama ako sa lotto sa pinas kapag sumuot ako sa butas na yun. kaso mahirap na. baka hindi ako magkasya at bigla ma-trap. may pasok pa naman ako kinabukasan.

dahil mashadong fit ang mga katawan namin para sa ganitong akyatan at lakaran e napagkasunduan na mag-chairlift ulit pababa. marami ng sumasakit sa katawan namin (lalo na ang mga tuhod ng thundercats). palibhasa malulusog na nga wala pa exercise sa katawan. go with the flow of the crowd na naman kami.

Hindi ito yung akyat na tipong hard-core climbing. tamang akyat. tamang pasyal. tamang pag-appreciate sa uber gandang view. at ang hindi mawawala tamang picture-picture ^o^

saberdey night ng gumawa kami ni mommy joy ng onigiri para baunin namin sa aming lakad kinabukasan. perstaym! convenient magbaon ng onigiri kasi.....

-madaling kainin. hindi kailangan ng spoon fork and plate.
- kanin at ulam in one!
-since compact at maliit hindi na kailangan ng naglalakihang taperwers para sa lalagyan.

da ingredients:
-gohan (rice)
-spam
-ginisang corned beef with patatas
-tira-tirang pritong salmon
-cling wrap

*hindi na namin nilagyan ng nori kasi ayaw namin. nalalansahan kami.

da procedure:
1. pumutol ng cling wrap. ilatag.
2. lagyan ng kanin. i-flat ng konti.
3. lagyan ng ulam sa gitna (bahala na kayo sa kumbinasyon).
4. patungan ng kanin ulit. ihulma.
5. ibalot ng tuluyan ang cling warp sa nahulmang kanin.
6. tapos! oo wala ng kasunod. yun na town....

waaaaah! nag-moist ang lente ng camera ko :(

may nakalimutan kami. nakalimutan namin lagyan ng asin yung rice. matabang tuloy. at yan ang bersiyon namin ng onigiri. dahil sa katamaran wala kaming panahon sa kung anech-anech na nagbo-bonggahang presentation na nakikita niyo sa totoong paggawa ng onigiri. kung yun ang hanap niyo e naliligaw kayo ng site.

Saturday night. We dined out because I was lazy to cook dinner heee. actually we really had to go out to buy a gift for a friend since we will be meeting him the next day to celebrate his birthday and to discuss some chenes matter about work. we had dinner at Idakaya. when we have the urge to eat ramen we just go to that place.

tonkotsu ramen + chahan (fried rice) + gyoza = gluttony (T_T)

first time kong nahilo dahil sa kabusugan. as in gusto ko ng magpabuhat sa aking mommy joy and daddy roel. nakuha kong sabihin "pramis. hindi napo ako uulit".

Sunday. Lunch at Yakiniku King/King of Yakiniku (as translated by japanese friend). yey libre! ^_^ The best yakiniku (tabehodai) resto so far. The calbee (tender beef belly) meat is heaven ^_^ downside: 30% more expensive than Keitokuen and the food is not served in a buffet style. you have to order. imperness hi-tech! haha

usually kapag araw ng linggo may mga namimigay ng libreng filipino-published newspapers sa labas ng simbahan. ang alam ko lang e yung Pinoy Gazette. bago pa mandin magsimula ang misa e nasa labas na sila para ipamahagi ang nasabing dyaryo. Nung Oct.24 na simba namin sa Yotsuya swerti si watashi dahil nabigyan ako. hektwali hde ako umalis sa harapan nung namimigay hanggat di niya ako binibigyan hehe

today is holiday and my former colleagues from Sanyo decided to have a meet-up. Meeting place at Kozukue Station. Had a picnic near Nissan Stadium.

while the men were playing basketball ate wilms, agnes and i "gatecrashed" the nearby flea market :P actually there was an event sponsored by BMW(with a small flea market) and i think only those with invitations were entitled to enter. earlier we were already at the entrance when we saw this Japanese staff asking the person in front of us for some paper which the staff later signed. the three of us saw a way at the back and tried to enter. success naman :) and maybe because the event is about to finish na kaya we were already allowed. kami na ang adik sa flea market :P

after going to the event we returned to the court and chatted for a little more. Went home by 5pm since we still have work tomorrow. it was great seeing again my former colleagues. who would have thought that we will all be seeing each other again here in Japan.

Since I can't still afford to have the "real" one eto muna for the meantime.....

tandang-tanda ko pa nung maliit pa ako...... manahimik ka LA Lopez!

anyhoo noong unang panahon ang undas ang sa isa sa mga inaabangan naming araw bukod sa pasko dahil sa kumikitang kabuhayan sa pagbebenta ng tulo ng kandila. 3pesos per kilo yata nun. sa 3pesos kasi may mabibili ka ng samalamig at fishball. oha solb! basta dumating ang araw ng undas e yung samu't-sari bagay na pwede kong mabili at makain ang nasa isip ko. kaya panalo kapag binigyan kami ng nanay ko ng 20 pesos na baon :D

mga nagrorondang mga bata na may dalang plastic or lata at kung anong pedeng pangkutkot. karaniwan na ang mga ganito sa public cemetery. diko alam kung may ganito sa mga private. malamang wala. para kasing ang sososyal ng mga tao dun. para lang silang nagpipicnic sa damuhan. kulang na lang mga magshutang naghahabulan at mga batang nanghuhuli ng mga tutubi at paruparo.

pero nung ~~lumaki~~ tumanda na ako e iba na ang ginagawa ko tuwing sasapit ang undas. kung dati puro pagkain lang ang nasa isip ko ngayon e ipinagdadasal ko na ang mga kaluluwa ng mga kamag-anak namin na nakahimlay sa mga puntod na aming dinadalaw. kapag sinipag e nagrorosaryo pako. though paminsan-minsan nakikikutkot pa rin ng tulo ng kandila para sa mga maliliit kong pinsan. diko matiis eh!

sana kahit anong araw maalala natin ang mga yumao nating mahal sa buhay. hindi naman natin kelangan ng puntod para lang maipagdasal sila. yun lang.

o sha magsisindi lang ako ng kandila at magpe-pray miya-miya.... mahirap na baka may dumalaw...

naiinis ako kay Judith McNaught. hindi ko akalain na mae-excite ako ng sobrang-sobra sa mga libro niya. kumbaga sa ano e ano. nakuha niya kiliti ko. ni-recommend sakin ni mommy joy na try kong basahin yung "A Kingdom of Dreams" at ayun. tinamaan na ng lintek ang siraulong hopeless romantic....

nakalimutan ko ang mundo ng internet.
walang check-check ng emails
once lang magcheck ng facebook
walang nood-nood ng tv-series/movies
tsaka na ang pagpopost ng entries sa blogspot

sinimulan kong basahin yung A Kingdom of Dreams noong myerkules ng hapon at natapos ko ng byernes ng umaga. nakuha kong basahin yung libro sa oras ng trabaho. sorry naman sa mababang EQ. siguro nagtataka na rin yung mga hapon nung mga panahon na yun kung paano ako nakakapag-design ng nakatitig lang sa monitor at hindi gumagalaw ang mouse. masama ang epekto ng libro sakin once na nakuha niya ang interes ko. hindi ako mapakali hanggang hindi ko sha natatapos.

this weekend natapos ko naman basahin ang Once and Always. ihi at kain lang ang pahinga. walang ligo-ligo nung sabado.

the last time na nagkaganito ako e nung napanood ko yung twilight na movie. na-intriga ang lola mo hanggang sa binasa ko na yung mga libro. including yung draft ng Midnight Sun. sa office, dorm, bahay, kubeta, sa duyan, sa bus, kahit saan at basta may oportunidad binabasa ko yung libro. nakuha kong magdownload ng pdf viewer for PSP para kahit saan pede ako magbasa. lalo kapag weekend kain at ihi lang talaga ang pahinga. umaabot ako ng 5am sa pagbabasa nung libro. nagalit na sakin si Basuraman dahil sa sobrang pagkahumaling ko sa libro lalo na sa karakter ni Edward at Bella. mababaw much? adik lang.

iba kasi pag binasa mo yung libro kumpara sa movie version nito. sa libro kasi andaming possibilidad na mabubuo ng imahinasyon mo samantalang sa pelikula limitado ang lahat sa kung ano lang ang makikita at maririnig mo. e tindi pa naman ng imagination ko. LOL

kaya sa ngayon lie low muna ako. magsisimula na kasi yung bago naming project at ayoko muna ng kahit na anong distractions.

dear papa Jesus, give me the strength to resist my desire to read another Judith Mcnaught novel/book. i do not want any sleepless night this week. tenchu pow....

kailangang mawala sa isip ko na andami pang novels ni Judith ang pwede ko pang basahin....

nagreply ako sa kanya na mag-ingat siya at sana'y nasa mabuting kalagayan na si papa pagdating niya ng bulacan. confident ako na malalagpasan pa ni papa ito. ilang beses na rin siyang isinugod sa taong ito at nakarecover naman siya kagad. masaya pa kaming kumakain ng OT meal kanina. hde ko inaasahan ang mababasa kong SMS...

"wala na ang papa ko."

hde ko alam kung paano ako magre-react. bigla na lang tumulo ang luha ko. wala akong kwentang nobya pagdating sa mga ganitong bagay. kung katangahan man yung ganun e inaamin kong tanga ako. siraulo talaga ako. kasama pa namin siya nung linggo. hde ko na nakuhang mag-OT. nagpaalam ako sa boss ko habang humihikbi at sinabing magli-leave bukas. uuwi ako ng bulacan. kailangan ako ni cy....

umiiyak ako para sayo dahil kung gaano ako ka-emosyonal sobrang hirap mo naman magpakita ng emosyon. nung tumawag ako naramdaman ko na yung sakit sa boses mo kahit sabihin mong ok ka lang.

para sa tatay ng kasintahan ko....

ingat po kayo sa byahe. sayang di niyo na masasasaksihan ang kasal namin ni cy. di niyo na rin makikitang tumakbo ang mga apo niyo sa amin. di bale malakas naman po ang signal jan sa taas. walang obstruction at hde kelangan ng monthly fee or internet connection para masaksihan niyong lahat ang magiging pangyayari sa buhay namin. madalang kayong ngumiti ngunit nagpapasalamat ako sa mga panahon na binigyan niyo ako ng oportunidad na masilayan ang inyong ngiti. siguro po ngayon alam niyo na kung gaano kayo kamahal ni cy. ikumusta niyo na lamang po sa aking lolo ama at lola ina.

after mass derecho kami sa aming peyborit bilihan ng kung anech-anech na filipino food. bago pa man ako nakarating sa bilihan ng banana-cue e may tumawag sakin. lo and behold! tinawag ako ng jumbo purefoods tender juicy hotdog o a stick. bago pa man tumulo ang aking laway e bumili na kami ni kuya roel ng tatlong piraso. 2 sa kanya at isa sa akin. 3pcs for 1,000yen o 350yen/pc. ang pinakamahal na hotdog na nakain ko. ayos lang. minsan lang naman magsaya ang alipin. yun nga lang di na tuloy ako nakakain ng banana-cue.

pagkagaling sa yotsuya pumunta kami sa shibuya. nagshoe-shopping ang aking mommy and daddy. ang dakilang sikoletlover na sumama lang para tumingin-tingin e napabili din. kawawang credit card. nagasgas na naman.

akala ko next week pa kami kakain sa shakeys kaso andun na rin lang naman kami e nilubos na namin. kung alam ko lang e di sana hde nako kumain nung super juicy at sarap na purefoods tender juicy hotdog. hanggang ngayon kinikilig pako sa sarap :D

sa halagang 1,180yen e eat-all-you-can ang lahat ng pizza, pasta, patatas and salad.

verdict: we're kinda disappointed. mejo lang naman. ok lang pero hindi yung tipo ng ok na babalik pa kami ulit dun. limited ang choices. ang pinaka-nagustuhan kong pizza e yung dessert pizza nila. pizza with chocolates, marshmallow and whipped cream as toppings. i just ate 1 slice kasi nabondat kagad ako sa pag-inom ng coke. kahit pasta hde na rin ako nakakain.

saan kaya ang susunod na tabehodai resto ang aming sasalakayin???

we decided to have lunch first before taking the journey to the center of the earth ride. when we left the place the waiting time was already 2 hrs. anyways, we had smoked turkey leg for lunch. we had no choice kasi yun lang meron sa lugar na yun and ayaw na naming lumayo just to look for restaurants.

when we returned to the ride the waiting time was already 3hrs. at that time*fast pass was not already available. we patiently waited. kesa naman sa wala.

3 hours in line! nakuha kong maglaro ng psp, makinig ng music, makipagdaldalan, okrayin lahat ng taong makikita ko, at magcheck ng facebook kada 2 minutes. nakakawala ng ulirat.

guess what. the ride was only 5 minutes! we we're all saying "yun na yown????" anyway it may be short but the ride was fun and almost worth the wait. sobrang nakakabitin lang talaga.

we wanted to have a picture with mickey kaso ang haba ng pila. na-stress na kami sa mga pila. lahat na lang may pila. rides, food, cr, picture taking with the disney characters, stalls, souvenir shops, etc. ok sana kung maigsi lang kaso hindi. nakakaigsi ng pasensha.

After the show we went home as we were all tired. it was only 8pm then. the park was open till 10pm. ayaw naming sumabay sa mga uuwi ng 10 kasi for sure sandamukal ang tao.

i had fun! super! i love disney and definitely definitely i will return to this place. with basuraman ^_^ i hope i can see the christmas special of Disneyland. summer this year when basuraman and i went to Disneyland with tita weng. kaso we left early dahil sa pagod. haven't seen its electrical parade.
